Vaginal Birth Better for Breech

For the same reasons that vaginal birth is better for twins, vaginal birth is also better for breech babies.

The default for all births should be the most conservative which is an undisturbed, physiologic, vaginal birth.  Like all other medical procedures, surgical birth should be reserved for when it is truly medically indicated,where the benefit outweighs the risk, and the individual “patient” chooses the procedure.  (I use the word “patient” in quotes because pregnant women should not be referred to as patient since they are not generally ill or in need of medical attention.)

Thankfully, just like the research supports vaginal twin delivery as the safest mode of delivery, research has clearly shown that vaginal birth is the safest form of delivery for breech babies and their mothers.
